Kapitel 2 · Für Editoren · Kategorien & Tags

Kategorien & Tags im Redaktionsplan

Vom Zufall zur Taxonomie: Wie Sie Kategorien und Tags planen, bevor der Bestand wächst.

Warum vorher planen?

So geht's konkret
  1. Kategorien festlegen5–9 sichtbare Themenblöcke aus Nutzersicht — die oberste Orientierung.
  2. Tag-Vokabular sammelnEine kontrollierte Liste an Stichworten und Synonymen je Themenfeld.
  3. Zielgruppen-Tags definierenEigene, gekennzeichnete Tags (z. B. zg-fuehrung, zg-neu) für Restrictions.
  4. Regeln dokumentierenKurz festhalten, was wohin gehört — damit alle Redakteure gleich taggen.

Redaktions-Checkliste je Inhalt

  • ☐ Genau eine (max. zwei) passende Kategorie?
  • ☐ Mehrere Themen-Tags inkl. Synonyme?
  • ☐ Passende Zielgruppen-Tags gesetzt?
  • ☐ Schreibweise aus dem Vokabular übernommen (keine Neuschöpfung)?

Pflege im Betrieb

  • Fester Review-Turnus (z. B. quartalsweise): verwaiste Tags zusammenführen, tote Kategorien entfernen.
  • Neue Tags nur nach Absprache ins Vokabular — sonst wuchert es.
  • Suchmisserfolge auswerten: Wonach wurde gesucht, aber nichts gefunden? Das sind fehlende Tags.

Chapter 2 · For editors · Categories & tags

In the editorial plan

From chance to taxonomy: how to plan categories and tags before the library grows.

Why plan ahead?

Order imposed retroactively across hundreds of items is expensive. A short taxonomy plan at the start saves days of rework later — and makes content findable and well-targeted from day one.

To a taxonomy in four steps

Step by step
  1. Define categories5–9 visible topic blocks from the user's perspective — the top-level orientation.
  2. Collect tag vocabularyA controlled list of keywords and synonyms per topic area.
  3. Define audience tagsOwn, marked tags (e.g. aud-managers, aud-new) for restrictions.
  4. Document rulesBriefly capture what goes where — so all editors tag the same way.

Audience tagsaud-all, aud-managers, aud-sales🚫
Status tags (optional)status-new, status-mandatory🚫

Editorial checklist per item

  • ☐ Exactly one (max. two) suitable category?
  • ☐ Several topic tags incl. synonyms?
  • ☐ Suitable audience tags set?
  • ☐ Spelling taken from the vocabulary (no new coinage)?

Maintenance in operation

  • A fixed review cycle (e.g. quarterly): merge orphaned tags, remove dead categories.
  • New tags only by agreement into the vocabulary — otherwise it sprawls.
  • Evaluate failed searches: what was searched for but not found? Those are missing tags.
